22 April is Earth Day - EARTH DAY.
This day of action is primarily about creating awareness of an environmentally conscious and sustainable lifestyle and raising awareness of environmental problems.
The aim of the day of action is to raise awareness of climate change and global warming. The day inspired us to plant our first company forest, named "merino.mates", together with Treedom.
We would like to thank our brand ambassadors for their support, motivation, inspiration and loyalty over the past years.
To mark EARTH DAY 2021, every merino.mate gets their own tree in the merino.mates forest.
This tree will bear the respective name of the brand ambassador and can be looked after by them. As a tree sponsor, you receive regular updates on the projects as well as on the impact of the trees.
Treedom is the world's first platform that enables users to plant a tree remotely and to follow online the project in which it is planted.
Treedom was founded in 2010 by Federico Garcea and Tommaso Speroni, after they had travelled together through Cameroon. There, on the ground, they were able to see the catastrophic social, economic and ecological consequences of deforestation. At the same time, the browser game FarmVille was very popular, and the two of them were also among its many users. Then the idea: how can we combine tree planting and fun digital components with social and ecological impact?
Together with local NGOs, Treedom works in the global south on agroforestry projects, in which every tree is planted by smallholder farmers. All tree species are selected according to the needs of the region and make an important ecological contribution; in addition, each tree species brings social benefits with it. An important keyword here is food security through the harvest of the tree's yield.
Every Treedom tree is photographed and geolocated and has its own profile page, on which regular updates from the respective project are posted for the user, as well as current weather data displayed. In addition, every tree is entered in the publicly viewable tree register, which provides additional transparency.
