Merino wool – a marvel of nature

Merino sheep are among the oldest and most resilient sheep breeds in the world. This special breed has its origins in North Africa and is known throughout the world today for its unique qualities. Merino sheep are equipped for every climate zone and brave both icy cold and intense heat. Thanks to the natural composition of their fleece, they can easily cope with temperature differences of up to 40 degrees, as it cools in the heat and warms in cold temperatures. The fine Merino virgin wool is obtained from living Merino sheep. The good thing about this: the sheep's fleece grows back in a completely natural way, so the wool is ecological by nature. At super.natural we focus on the source, which is why we obtain our Merino wool from African farms. In doing so, we put our trust in the German worsted yarn manufacturer Südwolle. As the global market leader for worsted yarns for weaving, circular and flat knitting, the company follows the latest eco-certifications, including Bluesign and Oeko-Tex standards. The super.natural Merino wool in detail

Merino wool, a natural wonder, impresses with its secrets: its antibacterial keratin keeps odours at bay, reducing washing and wear. This wonder fibre absorbs 35% of its weight in moisture, combined with polyester for rapid wicking and lasting comfort. The fusion of materials guarantees scratch-free, super-soft surfaces and the highest wearing comfort. Merino wool also protects against UV rays (SPF 40+) and regulates temperature - ideal in heat or cold.

In perfect harmony

Compared with synthetic fibres, the fibre structure of Merino wool is, due to its nature, less resistant to abrasion and tearing. It is therefore not as hard-wearing. The fibre mix therefore combines the natural elasticity of Merino wool with the durability of polyester. This makes a unique dimensional stability and longevity of the products possible.

Odour-neutralising

The antibacterial and dirt-repellent effect of the enzyme keratin, which is a natural component of Merino wool, prevents the development of unpleasant odours – even after heavy sweating or wearing multiple times. Compared with cotton or synthetic fabrics, it therefore needs to be washed less often, which means the fibres are subjected to less strain.

Temperature- and moisture-regulating

The hydrophilic fibres of Merino wool can absorb over 35% of their own weight in moisture without the clothing feeling cold and damp or sticking to your skin. Merino wool does, however, dry more slowly than synthetic fibre, which is why the polyester core in the super.natural fibre ensures faster release of moisture to the outside and thus guarantees a pleasant body feeling.

Soft wearing comfort

The fine bonding of the materials creates a very soft surface. This does not itch and offers the highest, natural wearing comfort.

Natural UV protection

No sheep gets sunburn, because Merino wool absorbs UV rays up to 40+ and thus keeps them away from the skin. super.natural makes use of this advantage through the Merino content.

Easy care

Merino wool is temperature-regulating: it cools in the heat and during increased activity and warms in the cold or during breaks. As with all Merino wool products, the Merino-mix allows a full wash up to 40°C. It is nevertheless considerably more hard-wearing and easy-care and can be washed with any type of detergent. Thanks to the stabilising effect of the synthetic fibre, super.natural products are also tumble-dryer suitable.

The ideal companion on mild days. Thanks to the innovative super.natural 140g blended fibre, consisting of 50% Merino wool and 50% polyester, this particularly fast-drying and temperature-regulating material offers a pleasantly cool wearing comfort on warm days.

Cool Days

The Midweight series is perfectly suited to every season. The 175g products keep you warm on cooler days and cool you down on warmer days. At the same time, they ensure a comfortable and lightweight feel.

Arctic 230
Cold Days

With the 230g baselayer you are perfectly equipped for the cold season, as it always keeps you warm and dry. Maximum wearing comfort thanks to maximum breathability and optimal thermal performance.

The super.natural Merino care tips

Set the wash cycle to between 30°C and 40°C
Use a pH-neutral delicate or technical detergent
Do not use fabric softener
Select a low spin speed (approx. 600 revolutions per minute)
Close zips, buttons and Velcro fastenings before washing to avoid pulled threads
Do not put in the tumble dryer Always wash together with the same or a similar colour Merino wool clothing should never be wrung out, kneaded or rubbed. This can cause it to lose its special properties more quickly.
Protect against moths with lavender, rosemary or thyme.

Extra tip: In many cases it is enough to hang up your super.natural products overnight after wearing them and air them out well.
